Pure Savon de Marseille soap is palm oil free and made with only the following ingredients: Olivate Sodium, Aqua (water), Sodium hydroxide (lye from the saponification)
Contains no chemical preservatives, dyes, synthetic fragrances, or GMOs.
Originally made under the reign of Louis XIV, Antique Savon de Marseille is biodegradable and naturally environmently friendly. The artisans cooked in an old-fashioned cauldron, then cut each piece by hand. Unfortunately, modern Marseille soap manufacturing has become industrial and may contain palm oils, copra chemicals, sometimes even animal fats.
However, this soap is of exceptional quality, true to the original recipe, and good for your skin and your health.
Antique Savon de Marseille soap is similar to Aleppo soap, the difference is that it does not contain laurel. The water used and the saponification technique also differ, the Aleppo soap being made with a very mineralized water while Marseille Soap is made with a softer water and cooked in the steamed cauldron.
